CARE LABELS

One of the most important things to check when it comes to caring for your fabric is its Care Label. Various factors determine the life expectancy of your fabric: colour, weight, fibre content etc. Due to these variables, some fabrics may require specific cleaning solutions or procedures.

For this reason, it is impossible to provide a single cleaning code to cover all fabrics. By law, all furnishing fabrics must be provided with a Fabric Care Label to advise correct and suitable care instructions for your specific fabric.

Your Care Label will be located on the furniture by a hang-tag or label sewn under the seat cushion or flounce, or given to you by your furniture retailer. Always refer to your Fabric Care Label before attempting ANY cleaning — a test patch is also a good idea before cleaning the entire piece just to be safe!

You can also check our Care Labels Australia page for more information on our website. Simply search the name of your fabric and find its Care Label number under the ‘Textile Info’ section (see example below).

HALO

Halo fabrics are designed to last. Woven to precise specifications with high abrasion standards, all Halo Fabrics repel stains, mould and moths — they can handle whatever you, your family or friends throw at them.

Warwick Halo fabrics are compatible with independent retail fabric protection and guarantee programes. These programes enhance the fabric’s ability to resist liquid staining by providing a spill repellent surface and/or warranties to cover accidental damage.

When browsing through our ranges, be sure to look for the Halo logo in the Spec Sheet (found in the 'Downloads' section), or under the 'Textile Info' below the 'Brand' subheading — this will show whether the fabric you're interested in features Halo. Halo is also sold as a separate spot cleaning product for any unwanted spills. If you’re looking for a quick way to clean and protect the affected area of your fabric, the Halo Fabric Care Kit is an excellent solution and emergency kit that can be purchased at most furniture suppliers.

This kit includes Halo Spot Cleaner for most household stains, Halo Fabric Deodoriser to help neutralise pet and general odours and Halo Fabric Protector to restore liquid repellency on fabric sections that have been spot cleaned.

PROFESSIONAL CLEANING SERVICES

For professional fabric services, we recommend that water-based ‘Fluro chemical’ type fabric protectors be applied by licensed applicators only. Check your Care Label first to see if a mill-applied protection was incorporated during fabric manufacture.

Fabric protectors do not eliminate the need for vacuuming, routine cleaning or proper care. They will, however, make spot cleaning and vacuuming quicker, easier and more efficient between professional cleans and keep your fabric looking cleaner longer, as well as extending its life. Professionals applying fabric protectors must always pre-test to qualify fabric suitability.

Professional cleaning frequency is determined by the furniture use, your own maintenance, upkeep and environmental conditions. As a good ‘rule of thumb’ overall, cleaning is recommended every 12 months for most family room lounges.

If you’re needing fabric protection to be applied to finished products/pieces, we recommend contacting a professional cleaning service near you.

LEATHER CARE

Leather is an investment and it’s important to care for it as best as possible. Regular light surface cleaning of leather furniture is essential to prevent daily dust, grime, perspiration and body oils from becoming ingrained and causing surface damage. For ways to care for your leather pieces, we have an in-depth guide here.

STAIN REMOVAL

Whether it's dealing with food stains or cheeky drawings from your little ones, spilled wine after a party or family gathering, or grease after a delicious pizza night on the couch, we have an in-depth guide of how to clean each of these stains, plus more!

Alcohol

After the moisture has been blotted up, dab at the stain with a clean cloth dampened in rubbing alcohol. Then blot repeatedly with liquid detergent mixed with cool water. Blot dry with a towel. Dab again with clear cool water and blot dry.

Grease (including hair grease and oil)

Scrape away excess if necessary and then dab repeatedly at the stain with dry cleaning fluid. If any stain remains, go over the area with a lukewarm mixture of liquid detergent and water. Always make sure you use a clean portion so you don’t put the stain back in the fabric. Lastly, go over the area with a clean cloth moistened with cool clear water.
