We’re excited to share and check out some of these events being held around Australia in the coming months. With new fabrics launching next month, we thought we would keep the creativity and inspiration running with some upcoming events and exhibitions you might want to attend near you if you’re able to.
Here are our top picks for events that we think will be worth seeing!

VICTORIA
1. SPECTRUM - AN EXPLORATION OF COLOUR | NOW UNTIL JUNE 26
Spectrum explores colour through the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria) collection, as well as the history and artistic use of twelve different colours. If you love colour, and are in Victoria, Spectrum might be a must-see for you!
2. THE PICASSO CENTURY | JUNE 10 UNTIL OCTOBER 9
Featuring over 70 works by Picasso — along with over 100 works by more than 50 of his contemporaries — The Picasso Century is an exclusively developed exhibition for the NGV where audiences can discover a special selection of works by artists rarely exhibited in Australia. This is a must-see for any lover of art and fan of Picasso.
3. DÉCOR + DESIGN | JULY 14 UNTIL JULY 17
In this much anticipated 4-day, trade-only design and furniture event, Décor + Design is set to be packed full of seminars with vibrant networking spaces, design influencers and inspirational design products that are trending this year. It is the region’s most important buying and networking destination for architects, decorators, retailers, and interior designers.

4. REED GIFT FAIRS – MELBOURNE | JULY 30 UNTIL AUGUST 3
Another trade-only event to add to the list for Australian retailers is Reeds Gift Fair. From a range of wholesalers specialising in Gift, Fashion, Home and Kids & Family, Reeds is the place to be where the largest variety of wholesalers are all under the one roof.

NEW SOUTH WALES
5. BLUE AND WHITE: BRETT WHITELEY | NOW UNTIL OCTOBER 16
Held at the Brett Whiteley Studio in Surrey Hills, Blue and White is a new exhibition that explores Whiteley’s work of ceramics and the importance and use of the colour blue. If blue is your favourite colour, this might be one you will want to see.
6. ARTWALK – NSW | JUNE 10 (5PM – 9PM)
For a fun night around Port Macquarie’s CBD, ArtWalk is a signature cultural arts event full of exhibitions, activations, illuminations, live performances, artists markets, workshops, creative installations and more. Suitable for all ages, this event will only happen on one magical night and is one that can’t be missed!

7. HOTA Collects | 8. Apt10 Extended.
QUEENSLAND
Reflecting on key developments in Australian art over the past 50 years, HOTA’s Collects showcases over 100 works from HOTA’s Collection across three galleries, including: abstraction, feminist art, Indigenous art, ceramics, and twenty-first century photography. Whether you’re visiting or live in Queensland, this exhibition would be a great one to go to!
8. APT10: EXTENDED | NOW UNTIL JULY 10
APT10: Extended at QAG and GOMA presents a snapshot of the most exciting contemporary work being produced in the region. With a selection of installations, paintings, sculptures, photographs, and video from ‘The 10th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art’, APT10: Extended is another exhibition to keep on your radar.
WESTERN AUSTRALIA
9. HATCHED: NATIONAL GRADUATE | NOW UNTIL JULY 1
Presenting the work of leading emerging artists who have recently graduated from art schools across the nation, the artists exhibiting as part of Hatched — selected by a panel of national and international artists and curators — bring their exciting practices of future art and unique visions together in one must-see show.
10. A PUZZLEMENT – NATHAN BEARD | OCTOBER 28 UNTIL JANUARY 8, 2023
“Drawing on his Australian-Thai heritage, Nathan Beard deconstructs characterisations of ‘Thainess’ to consider the role of authenticity and the complex influences of culture, memory and biography on the shaping and structuring of identity.”
With artworks including photography, video, sculpture, and installation, “Beard’s project for PICA was influenced by the artist’s research into Thai artefacts, imagery and orchids from archives of The British Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum, British Film Institute and Kew Gardens.”
If you’re in WA, A Puzzlement will be an interesting exhibition worth seeing!
SOUTH AUSTRALIA
11. CHIHARU SHIOTA: ABSENCE EMBODIED | ONGOING
Recognised by the world over for her string installations, Japanese artist, Chiharu Shiota, attempts to represent what it means to be human at the Art Gallery of South Australia. Drawing on personal experiences, Shiota uses emotions and memories in her installations to create universally resonant works. This exhibition is ongoing, so if you’re in South Australia, this is one to check out.
12. 2022 ADELAIDE BIENNIAL OF AUSTRALIAN ART: FREE/STATE | NOW UNTIL JUNE 5
Featuring a group of fearless artists from every Australian state and territory, this exhibition “explores ideas of transcending states, from the spiritual and artistic to the psychological, and embraces notions of freedom in expression, creation and collaboration.”
From photography, painting, sculpture, installation, and the moving image, Free/State delivers new and unexpected visions of transformative personal and public moments. With free entry, this exhibition would be great to see.

TASMANIA & ACT
13. DARK MOFO | JUNE 8 UNTIL JUNE 22
Taking place for only one week is Tasmania’s highly anticipated program, Dark Mofo. Described as strange and awry, Dark Mofo is a captivating festival like no other. It features offbeat theatre productions, as well as retrospectives of light shows, classic movies and late openings of the local museum, Mona — which the festival runs alongside with.
14. KNOW MY NAME | NOW UNTIL JUNE 26
Know My Name: Australian Women Artists 1900 to Now showcases art made by women. Told in two parts, this exhibition tells a new story of Australian art and looks at moments in which women created new forms of art and cultural commentary, such as feminism. This exhibition is one of the most comprehensive presentations of art by women assembled in this country to date. A must-see if you’re in the area!
